U.S. College Student Population By State

For academic year 2019-2020, total 20,425,028 students have enrolled U.S. colleges and universities. By gender, 42.84% of male students (8,750,209) and 57.16% of female students (11,674,819) are attending colleges. In this article, we analyze the college student population by U.S. State and Territories for academic year 2019-2020 In undergraduate programs, total 17,325,543 students are enrolled and 3,100,630 students have joined graduate programs.
California has the most students with 2,777,242 students and Texas follows it with 1,675,807 students. Next table shows the number of enrolled students by gender and degrees. The online enrollment means the number of students who enrolled online exclusively into undergraduate or graduate program.
